                Low-voltage insulators are used for insulation and hanging wires in low-voltage and ultra-low voltage ac and dc transmission lines.In the early years, low-voltage insulators were mainly used for telephone poles, and they were gradually developed.                    Chapter 3 – Feature Of Insulator 

1) the zero value is broken by itself, which is convenient for detection.

                Glass insulator has the characteristic of zero value self – breaking.As long as on the ground or in the helicopter can be observed, there is no need to mount the pole piece by piece detection, reducing the labor intensity of workers.For the products introduced into the production line, the annual running self-breakage rate is 0.02-0.04%, which can save the maintenance cost of the line.

2) good arc and vibration resistance

                 The new surface of the glass insulator subjected to lightning burns during operation is still smooth vitreous and has a toughened internal stress protection layer, so it still retains sufficient insulation energy and mechanical strength.In the 500kv line, there were several disasters caused by the ice on the wire, and the mechanical and electrical performance of the glass insulator after the wire dancing was tested.

               Chapter 4 –Insulator protection scheme 

              At present, lightning protection of the line is mainly to install zinc oxide arrester, but the application of zinc oxide arrester also has the following problems:
(1) after the zinc oxide arrester is broken or damaged by lightning, the damaged mouth is small and difficult to patrol and find.
(2) the zinc oxide arrester needs to be tested once every 3~5 years, and the test workload is too large.
(3) zinc oxide arrester needs to be grounded, and the cost of construction and maintenance is veryhigh.
(4) compared with the insulator, the cost is high, which is not conducive to the mass use.

             Aiming at the above problems, the lightning protection device of insulator is developed.After analysis, it is concluded that the air gap structure is simple and the price is low.This kind of air gap makes use of the characteristic that the power-frequency arc is easy to move upward under the action of its own electric force and hot gas current, and makes the arc elongate, thus making the arc extinguished.Therefore, an insulator lightning protection device composed of arc guide clamp, positive pole rod and negative plate is designed, and a replaceable structure is adopted to separate arc guide clamp and positive pole rod, and bolt combination is adopted.

             If the positive rod is damaged by arc combustion, the positive rod can be replaced instead of the whole set, which reduces the cost.
